uneasy

Friday, July 22, 2011

the older I get, the less adaptable I am to change.

I start day shift this week, and I feel the anxiety creeping in.

same job, mind you. just in the DAY.

how silly can I be.

Josh has been gone this week, too,- and so the rhythms get disrupted. I feel shaky and unsure at times.

I feel this way in Tulsa, a lot. It feels more like home than before, but it still feels more like a foreign country.

I wonder about friends of mine of moved from their countries years ago to live here. Do they ache for their homeland? I can't imagine.

I watched a movie today- "the other woman"- this title is very misleading, because it's much more about the loss of a child. oh my goodness, it was gut wrenching, and beautifully acted by Natalie Portman. It's up there with "and then she found me", as one of the more real and well acted films I have seen.

There is so much crap out there, selling us a life that doesn't exist- that I am oddly refreshed when a film portrays something very real and messy.

This films walks through grief, and you feel every ounce of it. but there is redemption in the end, and I happen to believe in that reality, too.

well, that was random. it's quiet here, gonna try and get some sleep.

good night all.

this little girl is both sweet and hilarious.
funny things as of late.

around the dinner table with my family, Annie after quiet observation, theatrically waves her hands in the air and screams "GUYS, GUYS, GUYS!!!!!"

in the morning, Annie has latched onto the word breakfast, and it goes something like...

" I WANT FEFEST!"

my sister does such a good job of documenting LIFE. I do a good job of pontificating and longing and doing my fair share of complaining. the struggle for contentment is a real one, and one I am LONGING to find, grab, and hold onto for dear life. So, here goes a real effort to live that out.

my little annie. who loves food, and plays "snack".

back

Sunday, July 10, 2011

we made it back.

josh drove 813 miles yesterday. all of them.

we rolled in at 2 am. we were tired.

we had a beautiful time.

it wasn't perfect, because we are not, and we have two little kids who test our wills and patience and ability to be kind.

but, still. it was good. so very good.

the next few weeks are busy. i have some ideas brewing though.

talk soon.

until then, some cousin cuteness.

georgia

we decided sometime Thursday that we would drive all night.

and we did.

worked well for baby. Annie, not so much.

still, all in all, a good strategy. we made great time- shaving off a few hours I am convinced.

we did have one failed stop at a steak and shake at 2 in the morning. I won't get into it, but it was pretty funny and a reminder of how different life is now. you kinda just had to be there. but you weren't, because you were sleeping. ah, sleep.

we rolled into birmingham around 5 am, and descended on my sister's house. We all took 2 hour naps, and because some plans fell through, we decided to torture our traveling souls a bit more and drive the rest of the way to Georgia.
we are glad to be here. The girls are doing great, and I think last night they finally got caught up on some much needed sleep. I actually slept 8 hours, but because my back is not used to sleeping flat like that for such a long period of time (I know, so sad, where are the days of 10 hours of sleep???)- I am up at 6 am blogging while the rest of the house slumbers.

oddly, I cherish the quiet. even if it's before the sun comes up.

anywho.....we are here, and enjoying Georgia life for a week.

I think may take a nap today.
